History:

Pasha was born in 2241 in Tagnarog, Russia to parents Anna and Andrei Chekov and the youngest of eight children and only girl of her family. Her family spent several years on the luna colony of Mare Imbrium after her father passed away in a shuttlecraft incident. Pasha was quickly scoped out in her schooling as a child prodigy and savant of mathematics. When she was nine she was sent to live with her grandmother in Moscow before attending a series of elite Russian and international schools, ultimately entering Moscow State University, from which she graduated in 2255 with a joint degree in theoretical physics and transporter theory. Later that year she ran away from home to enrol in Starfleet Academy becoming the second-youngest attendee in the Academy's history.
Pasha had a relatively peaceful teenage life despite her advanced academic studies, spending a lot of her time learning how to hack and became some of what of an urban legend in her own right as an online hacktivist. She targeted online scam artists, destroying their operations and methods under the guise of 'mistercleanup'. She was never caught in this but the skill did come in handy in later life.
In 2258 Pasha was instated as the Chief Navigator of the USS Enterprise under Captain Pike. She was involved with the Narada incident in which a group of Romulans destroyed the planet Vulcan and attempted to also destroy Earth. During the incident Pasha was directly responsible for saving Jane Kirk and Hikaru Sulu from falling to their death and for failing to transport three members of the Vulcan High Council including Commander Spock's mother. She graduated the Academy the same year and was instated as the permanent Chief Navigator of the Enterprise under Captain Kirk.
Pasha continued on a few missions with the USS Enterprise including a mission to Pollux IV which saw Chekov receive a special commendation for bravery (Better known as the Apollo mission). The Enterprise crew were used mostly as the flagship crew, doing a few high profile missions while they waited for their active mission to be assigned.
After a series of terrorist attacks and Kirk being relieved of command - after an incident involving Spock, a primitive culture and a volcano - the senior admiralty is attacked by a dangerous criminal known only as Joan Harrison. Admiral Pike is killed and Kirk requests permission to go after her to bring the criminal back. Chekov was once again assigned as the Enterprise's Chief Navigator. However she doesn't remain navigator for long. Lt Commander Scott resigned her commission after Kirk bringing weapons onto the ship she hadn't checked herself.
Pasha had shadowing Scotty in the hopes of learning more about the warp engines, something known to Kirk, and as such Pasha is promoted to Chief Engineer in Scotty's absence, a task of which she felt woefully unprepared for. The ship proceeded to Qo'nos which is in Klingon space, which is Harrison's last known location. Chekov was forced to drop the ship out of warp manually after finding a coolant leak in the warp core, while roughly 20 minutes away from their location. Harrison was apprehended by Kirk's away team and taken to security. But in the meantime Pasha struggled to find way to fix the engines.
Chekov had to deal with the warp core breaking down entirely along with the anti-gravity, though it was sufficiently repaired to flee when the Enterprise was attacked by the USS Vengeance, captained by Admiral Marcus who had been behind the actions of Harrison (Khan) the whole time. She later prevented Kirk and Scott (who had returned to the ship) from falling to their deaths while the ship lost its artificial gravity by holding onto them when they went over the railings. She later returned to her position on the helm. Kirk sacrificed herself for her crew but was saved through the virtue of Khan's 'superblood'.
Shortly before starting their five year mission Pasha was promoted to Lieutenant. After the routine surveying of a previously unexplored planet, Kassen V, the Enterprise was assigned to explore a black hole that had appeared nearby. The anomaly was found but the Enterprise unfortunately got caught in it, only to come across another USS Enterprise. Upon making contact with the other ship it becomes horribly apparent that the other Enterprise is exactly the same if not for the crew being the opposite sex. Some of the other Enterprise crew come to visit their ship but Sulu and Chekov are made to stay on the bridge. Pasha makes contact with the other Chekov and between them Pavel and Pasha come up with a solution to remove both ships back to their universes of origin so that they could continue to go about their respective missions.

Personality:

Pasha is a very driven and focused young woman. She knows exactly what she wants and if she’s completely determined to get it, she usual does get it if only through her own entirely stubborn determination. She isn't sneaky or underhand about it, but she instead uses her genius level intellect which has only been maintained through keeping her head down and working hard. She does this because a lot of pressure is on her as the Enterprise’s ‘Whiz-kid’ to constantly perform at a high level expected by both her superior officers and herself. There is also a lot of pressure on by other people’s thoughts of her, being of a young age Pasha feels she has to repeatedly prove herself to her fellow officers, or that she deserves the position of Chief Navigator which she worked hard to attain.
Understandably having been rushed through her schooling at such a young age has had a knock on effect on Pasha’s social skills. As a result she sometimes she finds it difficult to connect or empathise with other people of her own age, preferring the company of people older then her who she regards as her intellectual equals. This isn't out of malice or spite, but instead from struggling to feel like a social equal with people her own age who she often finds shallow. While in some respects Pasha is more mature then some of her peers, her lack of a childhood or teenage life has left her left her a bit naïve to the world and she will often find it difficult to engage fully in more social activities or friendships. Despite this she’s quickly learning and becoming more worldly due to her assignment on the Enterprise and the encouragement of her peers to engage more fully in a more holistic life rather than just a purely academic and work fuelled life.
A thing that should be noted is that Pasha copes very poorly with change. She is very controlling about her own life and hates any kind of change that will disrupt that. She lives by routine and rote, which is perfectly possible on the Enterprise with it's militaristic set up but perhaps not to realistic in the real world. However the slightest disturbance completely knocks her off her axis and ruffles her feathers often leaving her flustered and upset. She has a very strong sense of justice and how things should be done. If she's witness to a crime or incident she'll do everything in her power to assist in whatever way she can.
As a defence mechanism, she can come off as a little cool and antisocial to people she has just met but this is mainly her retreating back into her shell so she can observe, learn and analyse the person and generally try to figure them out. If a person can draw her out of her shell and gain her friendship, or at least drag her away from her books for long enough, they will have gained a puppy like loyalty for life.
In some respects Pasha can be her own worst enemy. She is very sensitive to criticism from anybody and particularly herself, she tends to be very strict and harsh with herself, expecting only the best from herself. In her work she is an utter perfectionist and anything less is counted as a failure to her. This is due to her upbringing, a strict mother and seven older brothers who were all brilliant in their own respect to outshine and out do as well as a father who martyred himself in the dangerous business of being a Starfleet officer. Overall Pasha is a bright and optimistic young woman who finds great pleasure in her work.
